COUNTY GAA CHAMPS!!!!

Last Friday, our Senior Girls won the County GAA final in a thrilling game against Glaslough NS. It was all the more amazing because at half time we trailed a strong Glaslough team by 0-4 to 0-1.

Early in the second half we shipped two goals, leaving us 2-4 to 0-1 behind. A heavy defeat was on the cards until our girls found their rhythm and started to play like we know they can. Wonderful defensive and midfield performances from the Timoney twins, Ciara and Orla, and some fine assists from Louise provided the ammunition for our sharpshooter forwards, Hannah and sister, county star Caoimhe, to fire in 4-4 without reply. Tilly was ready on the sidelines to come in and do a job for us also.

In the dying minutes fingernails were bitten as our keeper Ella pulled off a string of brilliant saves to keep Glaslough at bay. We were able to hang on for victory. The referee blew his whistle to the delight of players, teacher and all the parents that travelled to support us. Caoimhe received the trophy from Mr. Jimmy Lacey and made a gallant speech, wishing Glaslough well and thanking them for a good game.

Everyone was treated to ice cream in the sun afterwards. It was a day we'll never forget.

Ice creams all round after the game!
