Successful Green Flag for Travel Application
We are both excited and proud to announce that we've been awarded our fourth Green-Schools Flag for Travel.(2 flags in one year despite Covid, not bad).
The idea of The Travel Flag, is to encourage more people to walk, cycle, scoot, carpool or take the bus to school. Unfortunately we learned early on, that we don't have the best infrastructure to encourage most of these and of course Covid didn't help us. But this did not dampen the spirits of the Green Schools Committee. Instead we went down the promotional route, by promoting sustainable travel awareness, No-Idling Campaign, reducing Air pollution in general plus we learned about Road and Bike Safety amongst other things. We're also very fortunate to get CLÁR Funding for Road Safety Measures at our School Grounds and also a School Zone Area plus we've been selected for The Safe Routes to school Campaign. We're very excited about these projects. We'd like to thank our wonderful Green School Committee who never gave up, Sorcha our Travel Officer, An Taisce, Monaghan CoCo, Bike Green, Road Safety Authority Ireland and of course Green Schools for helping and supporting us in achieving our success.
